Tyrant Suite.
Many industrial protocols.
One application.

A free Windows testing tool for developers and programmers going head-to-head with a wide range of industrial devices — Modbus, Siemens S7, Serial RS232, TCP/UDP, OPC UA, Omron FINS and more.

Tyrant was born to bring industrial communication testing — normally split across half a dozen different apps — into a single tool.

TCP, UDP, Serial, Modbus TCP/RTU, S7, OPC UA and Omron FINS in one clear, portable interface built for the plant floor: send, receive, analyze, test and debug communications without relying on ancient tools, paid software or complicated setups.

What it speaks

Protocols & tools.

Every channel Tyrant understands, and the utilities built around them from real field debugging.

🔌Modbus RTU ClientRS-485
FC 1–6, 15–16 over RS-485/RS-232. Visual register maps for Coils, Inputs, Holding and Input Registers. Configurable Unit ID, address, quantity and timeout. Auto CRC-16 calculation and validation on every frame.
🔌Modbus RTU ServerSim
Simulates a complete Modbus RTU device. Maintains 4 independent arrays (Coils 0–9999, Discrete Inputs, Input Registers, Holding Registers). Listens asynchronously, validates CRC, builds correct responses.
🌐Modbus TCP ClientTCP
Same function codes as RTU but over Ethernet — port 502 by default, fully configurable. Adds MBAP header with Transaction ID for frame synchronisation. Visual register maps and coloured HEX console.
🌐Modbus TCP ServerTCP
TCP listener on a configurable port (502 by default) with auto-detected local IP. Handles multiple simultaneous clients. Configurable register values per address. Full request/response log.
🔗Serial RS232COM
Generic serial terminal for any RS-232 device. Full line config: baudrate, parity, data bits, stop bits, handshake (RTS/CTS, DTR/DSR). Separate TX/RX consoles, HEX view and log export.
📡TCP/IP ClientTCP
TCP client with optional ping before connect. Auto-response engine via Tyrant Command Processor. Async receive loop, HEX mode, full coloured console.
🖥️TCP/IP ServerTCP
TCP server that accepts multiple simultaneous clients. Client list DataGrid shows IP, port and timestamp. Broadcast to all or send to an individual client.
📦UDPUDP
UDP client with separate local and remote port config. Background async receive. Optional CR/LF append. Separate TX/RX consoles.
🏭Siemens S7Sharp7
Connects to Siemens S7-300/400/1200/1500 via Sharp7 library. Reads and writes DB, M, I, Q areas with full type support: Bool, Byte, Word, DWord, Real, String. Address syntax: DB10.DBX0.0 · DB10.DBW2 · MW100. Latency measurement per operation.
🔬OPC UAWIP
OPC UA client following IEC 62541 standard — the modern unified communication architecture for secure, platform-independent industrial data exchange. Currently in active development.
⚙️Omron FINSWIP
Omron FINS client (Factory Interface Network Service) — Omron's native protocol for CS/CJ/NJ series PLCs over UDP/TCP, for reading and writing memory areas (CIO, DM, WR, HR). Currently in active development.
I/O
BUS
📖Modbus RTU ExplainedDecoder
Visual frame decoder. Enter any Modbus RTU frame in HEX and get a field-by-field breakdown: address, function code, data, CRC position and value.
🧮Modbus CRC CalculatorCRC-16
3 independent CRC-16 calculators. Enter frames in HEX, select byte order (Low-High or High-Low), get the CRC result instantly. Essential for RTU debugging.
📖Modbus TCP ExplainedMBAP
Decodes the full Modbus TCP frame structure: MBAP header (Transaction ID, Protocol ID, Length, Unit ID) and PDU content.
📨Telegram SendN+1
3 preset message slots by default for sending data in ASCII, HEX or binary format + 1 file send slot — add or remove as many as you need to keep a whole set of messages ready to fire. Available in Serial, TCP Client, TCP Server and UDP.
🤖Tyrant Command ProcessorGET_*
Drop-in automated response engine — over 100 GET_* commands (CPU usage, IP info, timestamps, system stats...) that Tyrant answers automatically on Serial, TCP Client, TCP Server or UDP, without writing a line of code.
🗂️S7 Address ReferenceS7
Reference table for Siemens S7 addressing syntax — DB, M, I, Q, T, C — with worked examples for bit, byte and word access.
🏷️S7 Data Type ReferenceS7
Every S7 data type — Bool, Byte, Word, DWord, Real, String — with byte size, value range and typical use, for fast type-matching.
⚠️S7 Error LookupS7
Paste a Sharp7 error code and get a plain-language explanation of the failure, with a suggested fix.
📐S7 DB Offset CalculatorS7
Enter a DB variable layout and get the exact byte and bit offset for each field — no more manual arithmetic.
Standalone tools
🔍IP ScannerOUI
Parallel ping sweep over any IP range. Enriches results with MAC address (from ARP table), hostname (DNS resolve) and vendor name (OUI lookup). Live progress bar.
🗺️ARP NetARP
Displays the system ARP table — all IP/MAC pairs the OS knows about on the local network. Shows active network adapter and interface description.
🔤ASCII Tables0–255
Three separate tables: Control chars (0–31), Printable chars (32–126) and Extended ASCII (128–255). Each shows decimal, HEX and description side by side.
🔁Multi Converter×13
13 conversion formats: HEX · Binary · Decimal · Octal · Base64 · ROT13 · Caesar cipher · Vigenère cipher · MD5 · SHA-1 · SHA-256 · Roman numerals. Any format → any format.
📝Text ToolsRegex
Three utilities: Compare (side-by-side diff of two texts), Replace (regex find & replace) and Reverse (invert character or line order). Useful for log processing.
🔢Hex EditorBytes
Binary file viewer/editor with offset, HEX and ASCII columns side by side. Search by hex pattern or text, edit bytes directly and save changes back to the file.
